Ayurvedic Treatment of Back Pain
According to Ayurveda, back pain and lower back pain happens due to the increment of 'dosha' in the body and it can be treated by bring the vitiated 'dosha' back to the state of equilibrium. Back pain and lower back pain can be treated internally as well as externally.
The drugs like Yogarajaguggul, Lakshadiguggul, Triphala Guggul, Mahanarayana tailam etc. can be given internally while Panchakarma treatments like Abhyanga (oil massage), Basti (meditated enema) can be applied externally for relieving backache and correcting abnormalities.
Ayurvedic Treatment of lower Back Pain
Daily purgation is recommended to restore the vitiated 'dosha' to the state of normalcy.
Take 2 tablets of organic Triphala at night before bed.
Take two tablets of Turmeric every day.
Take castor oil three times per week for one month to get rid of excess apana that eliminate the toxins from the body.
An hour full body Abhyanga Massage using warm herbal organic oil like Murivenna, Dhanwantharam oil will relieve in the lower back pain and backache.
Use Basti herbal enema treatment to flushes out faeces and Ama (toxins) from the body. It will enhance the function of colon.
Use Aromatherapy with basil, frangipani, henna or cinnamon to get some relief.
Yoga postures like back-bends, such as Locust, Cat, and Sunbird will help in relieving the pain of backache and lower back pain.
Relaxed and tension free life will prevent from backache and lower back pain.
Body Foment with Rice: Take 1 cup uncooked rice and tie it in a thick cloth. Heat this cloth pack in the microwave oven or heater till the temperate of the cloth reaches to tolerable state. Foment the back and lower back with it.
Body Foment with Ice Packs: Body foment with ice pack will relive the pain and it should immediately be applied after back strain or injury. It reduces inflammation and helps numb pain.
To prepare an Ice Pack, crush the cubes of Ice and mixed the salt and pack it into a plastic bag. Cover this bag with a towel, and apply it to the back for about 15-20 minutes. After 30 minutes, repeat the process.
Epsom salts: These salts reduce swelling thereby relieving back pain. Two cups salts should be mixed in water in bathtub and the patient should soak in it for about 30 minutes.
Ginger and Honey: Take a 1- 2 inch fresh ginger root and cut into slices. Drop the slices in 1 quart boiling water. Cover and simmer, 30 minutes on low heat. Cool it off for another 30 minutes. Strain the solution and mix some honey into it and drink. It will restrain the inflammation and has the property of mild aspirin-like effects.
