Medicinal Uses

The plant is reported to show antiperiodic, antimalarial, emetic, expectorant, febrifuge and purgative action. The leaves are useful for the treatment of coughs, colds and bronchitis. Leaves are also used to treat stomach cancer. The roots are quite effective in treating fevers and indigestion. The bark of the plant is used to treat stomach problems and heart trouble. The herb is also known to relieve backache caused by kidney problems.
