Medicinal Uses

The plant is reported to have cooling, laxative, vulnerary, antipyretic, antiperiodic, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, depurative, soporific, anthelmintic properties and is very effective in the treatment of hyperdispsia, burning sensation, wounds, ulcers, chronic fever, and intermittent fevers. In addition to that the plant is also useful in case of inflammations, cough, bronchitis, skin diseases, leprosy, colic, flatulence, diarrhoea and haemorrhoids. Kalmegh is quite effective in the cure of upper respiratory infections, fever, sore throat and herpes. It is also used against malaria, dysentery and even snakebites.
