Medicinal Uses

The plant pacifies vitiated pitta and kapha in the body. It is reported to have antiseptic, antiviral, astringent, aperitif, bactericidal, disinfectant, febrifuge, haemostatic and restorative properties. The plant is a rich source of vitamin C and helps in the treatment of scurvy. The fruit juice is known to provide relieve in case of bee stings. It is very useful in case of colds, sore throats and flu and also enhances the immune system. It helps in the cure of asthma, coughs, bronchitis and sinusitis. In addition to that the plant is quite effective in the treatment of arthritis, rheumatism, obesity, cellulite, herpes, insect bites, acne and poor circulation.
