Ayurvedic Treatment of Diabetic Neuropathy


Treating diabetic neuropathy in Ayurveda works on the theory of controlling and treating diabetes. There are several herbal remedies and dietary supplements are available that can control the sugar level and all associated problems of diabetes. The natural way to manage diabetic neuropathy is a herbal remedies, dietary supplements, and correct life style changes. The proper management of diabetic neuropathy also helps in preventing other complexes of the disease like tissue and organ damaging.

There are few herbal medicines that affect Diabetes neuropathy without hurting the body. These are:

Indian Kino, Malabar Kino

Indian Kino (Pterocarpus massupium) or Malabar Kino works on diabetes. There is a long history of Indian Kino herbs being used in India for the treatment of diabetes. Originally its function is to regenerate functional pancreatic beta cells.

Gymnema Sylvestre (Gurmar, Cherukurinja)

Gymnema helps the pancreas to produce Insulin in Type 2 diabetes. It also improves the ability of insulin to lower blood sugar in both Type I and Type 2 diabetes. It decreases cravings for sweet.

Blueberry Leave

The blueberry leaves are traditionally being used since long time for treating diabetes. Blueberry leaves also increases capillary integrity, inhibit free-radical damage and improve the tone of the vascular system.

Asian Ginseng

Asian ginseng is used to treat pancreas that secretes insulin hormones. The rise of insulin hormone cope with the increased level of sugar in blood. It has a direct blood sugar-lowering effect.

Ginkgo Biloba

Ginkgo biloba extract may prove useful for prevention and treatment of early stage diabetic neuropathy.


It lowers the risk of diabetic complications such as diabetic cataracts and retinopathy.


Stevia is used as a replacement of sugar as tastes sweet. It does not enhance the level of blood in sugar.


Cinnamon triggers the metabolic speed that boosts the conversion of glucose to energy by twenty times. It also blocks the formation of dangerous free radicals that helps to slow down the progression of diabetic complications.


The fibre rich fenugreek seeds lower the sugar level in blood and when it is consumed orally it reduces blood sugar, increases lactation and enhances wound healing.

Indian Gooseberry

The Vitamin C rich Indian Goosberry (Amla) reduces the sugar level in blood when it is mixed a cup of bitter gourd juice. Take a teaspoon of gooseberry and mix it with one cup of bitter gourd juice.

Mango Leaves

Soak some fresh leaves of mango in water for an overnight and squeezed well before filtering them in the morning. Consume this infused water every morning to control early diabetes for long term. Dried, powered and preserved leaves can also be used instead.

Neem (Margosa)

Consume 5 m.l. juice of neem in empty stomach early for three months in the morning to restrict the rising level of sugar in the blood.

Curry Leaves

The curry leaves contain several herbal properties, thus used for curing diabetes. Curry-leaves are of great value in losing weight ? one of the prime causes of diabetes. It is due to reduction in weight, the diabetic patient stops passage of sugar in urine. Consume ten fully-grown curry leaves every morning for at least three months to restrict sugar level in blood.

Sweet Potato Leaves

Take 60 g of fresh laves or 30 g of dry leaves of sweet potato and add 100 g of fresh or 12 g of dry skin of ash gourd. Cut into small pieces and boil into water.
