How do you prepare Holy Basil for medicinal use?

Holy Basil is an ancient herb found in various parts of the world but predominantly used in India. with heap of medicinal properties of its own. Holy Basil can be used as a medicine in various forms. Chewing Holy Basil leaves, making a juice from the extracts and even mixing them with other herbs and foods is how we can use Holy Basil as a medicine.

One can prepare a mixture of Holy Basil with gram flour. It would make for an excellent treatment number of disorders. It helps as an effective anti-inflammation agent. Grind together some Holy Basil leaves with gram flour and aloe vera juice to make a thick paste. Apply the paste to on the affected area. Wash off completely after keeping it for some twenty minutes.

Holy Basil juice made from the extract of the plants of leaves serves many purposes. One can make it by using grinded Holy Basil leaves and water.

Add a handful of dried Holy Basil leaves and a cup of water to a small saucepan. Extract the natural oils from the leaves by grinding them well. Now put the mixture to flame for about 15 minutes.

After removing the mixture from the flame, allow it to cool down. Apply onto acne-affected areas on the skin with a cotton ball twice a day.

You can also prepare Holy Basil tea. It is a useful remedy to cure number of diseases like cough and cold. Use fresh Holy Basil. For each cup of tea, put around 15 holy Basil leaves into the teapot. Boil water in a saucepan and then pour it over your Holy Basil basil leaves.

Boil tea for around 10-12 minutes. You can also add sugar, honey, lemon or milk for adding taste to the tea. Holy Basil tea has gained popularity of its health benefits because of its rich antioxidant and adaptogenic properties.

Holy Basil Tea does not contain caffiene and thus can be an apt replacement for tea and coffee. It helps in bringing down stress levels and also diminishes the effects of stress.
