According to botanical classification Tulsi is an aromatic plant of the Lamiaceae family. This plant of sub-shrub category is both cultivated and left growing as weed. Medicinal Properties of Tulsi

Tulsi as a herb loaded with great range of healing and medicinal properties has been subject to pharmacological and medical interest from all over the world ever since the early days of development of modern medicine and pharmacological practice. The natural chemical constituents of Tulsi as per the pharmacological study are oleanolic acid, urosolic acid, rosmarinic acid, eugenol, carvacrol, linalool, B-Caryophyllene, B-elemene and germacrene. All these chemical constituents have different roles of significance as per the pharmacological studies. For instance for the huge amount of eugenol present in Tulsi the herb functions in many cases with outstanding and superb painkiller properties as eugenol is known for its anti-inflammatory properties or properties that are crucial to inhibit pain and inflammation. Recent medical studies of various types carried out by experts in various parts of the world have indicated that Tulsi extract or Tulsi administered in other forms with hypoglycemic drugs can help significantly in reducing cholesterol level in blood. Another study of similar medical significance has indicated that Tulsi can reduce blood glucose level to a great extent in Type Two Diabetes and taking this herb in the long run can prove hugely beneficial in respect of long term treatment of diabetes without depending on taking insulin. The most important medicinal properties of Tulsi that made this a vital ingredient of herbal tea all over the world is its great anti-oxidant properties that helps to balance various physical process seamlessly, boosts immunity and reduces stress to a great extent.
